The PPhREI Network Highlights drop once a week and include the best posts from the PPhREI network…
This week The Darwinian Doctor shares a parable from Heinrich Boll to help us think about our relationship with money. This is a great read and the post encourages us to evaluate if we should be focusing on finances or experiences. Personally, like most things in life, I don’t believe there are only two options. The third option of a balance between finances and experiences is the way to go. Lauren and I have taken this approach and share our experience in our post for the week…
The Prudent Plastic Surgeon provides us a quick refresher on our progressive tax system. You may know most of what is in this article but Dr. Frey has a way of explaining things in a clean and concise fashion. Take the time to check out this post of the week… “Nobody really likes taxes. Some people hate them. Some people accept them. But no one likes them. However, that is not a reason to ignore taxes. Understanding how taxes work puts you in control.”
The post above written by the Darwinian Doctor got me thinking about our current financial and lifestyle set up. We are neither the “American Investment banker or the Mexican Fisherman” we are somewhere in between. With that said, we do lean more towards the lifestyle of the “Mexican Fisherman”. We invest and work hard but we have also created a lifestyle with protected time to spend with family and friends. This approach has slowed our timeline to retirement but it has been worth every penny.
